Program description:

This offering features Dr. Lawrence W. Brown, Associate Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics and Co-Director of the Pediatric Neuropsychiatry Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Brown will describe features that distinguish nocturnal seizures from sleep disorders including night terrors, PLMS, and obstructive apnea. He will explain different ways that common epilepsy syndromes present in relation to the sleep-wake cycle as well as the current understanding of the effects of common antiepileptic drugs on sleep architecture and daytime vigilance.
